Starting your research

With more time at home, there’s never been a better chance to start your own research. Discover our collection and you never know where it might take you. Maybe there’s a few branches of the family tree to complete or a couple of elusive ancestors you’ve never been able to pin down, we bet our Family History Research guide can help.

If you’re looking for some inspiration with your research or just an interesting read, check out our Stories from the Archive.

Online records

Some of our most popular records have been digitised either by staff, volunteers or in partnership with FamilySearch. These include passenger lists, gaol registers, school admissions and more.

Online photographs

Our Flickr page features thousands of photographs from our collection. From South Australian Tourism Publicity Posters to Historical Moustaches there’s so many great photos to view. Or maybe you want to see South Australia and the Northern Territory in 1935 through the lens of world famous photographer Frank Hurley? We’ve got that covered too!

We’ll be uploading more photographs over the coming weeks so make sure to keep checking.

Jigsaw puzzles

Challenge yourself to piece together records from the archive with our jigsaw puzzles.

We'll be uploading more puzzles soon. Follow our social media or check back here for more puzzle fun.

Reference and digitisation services
