Managing information as an asset ensures it can be trusted and relied on.  This enables improved government decision-making and better service delivery to South Australians.

These resources have been developed to assist agencies (including local councils and universities) to manage information assets at all stages of its lifecycle. The term ‘information asset’ incorporates the definition of an official record as defined by section 3(1) of the State Records Act 1997, where it is created or received through the conduct of government business.  This includes information data and records in any format, whether digital or hardcopy.

This page provides help for government agencies to meet their responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (FOI Act) and Information Privacy Principles Instruction (IPPI).

A breakdown of your information management, freedom of information and privacy responsibilities as a public officer can also be found in our Responsibility and Guidance Brochure.
