Make a Research Centre appointment
Book an appointment and pre-order records. Please order records before you come as it's usually not possible to order them during your visit.
Please follow the Research Centre rules during your visit.
Help with finding records
Although a personalised research service is not offered, State Records can help guide you with your research.
To find records to order, check out the Discover our collection topic pages and the guide on how to find records in the archive.
You can also search the ArchivesSearch catalogue for records relevant to your visit. Records have a specific reference found in ArchivesSearch, like GRS 1334/1 Unit 38 File 3296 or GRG1/42 Unit 1. Make sure to give these details when booking your appointment so the records will be ready when you arrive.
We're here to help you find what you need. Give us a call on 08 7322 7077 or email us at staterecords@sa.gov.au.
Prefer not to visit?
Some records can be viewed online and we can make copies of specific records when we have the references.
Alternatively, there are third party providers that offer research services for a fee.
