The Freedom of Information Act 1991 (FOI Act) contains several reporting mechanisms that agencies are obliged to complete.  These mechanisms support the Objects of accountability and transparency under the FOI Act:

  • The Administration of the FOI Act Annual Report - Section 54 of the FOI Act requires the preparation of a holistic report that lists the activities conducted over the period of a financial year, across State and Local Government and Universities.
  • Contracts containing Confidentiality Clauses - Clause 13(6) requires the approval of a confidentiality clause in a contract to be reported to the Minister in writing “as soon as practicable”.
  • FOI Information Statements - Section 9 of Part 2 deals with the publication of information about an agency and the information it holds
  • Disclosure logs for non-personal information released through freedom of information - PC045 requires certain FOI application details and documents to be made available by agencies (state government only).
