Description of the Privacy Officer Network

South Australian Public Sector agencies are required to comply with the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) as detailed in the Premier and Cabinet Circular No 12.

It is the responsibility of Chief Executives to ensure that their agencies comply with the Information Privacy Principles.

To help agencies fulfil this obligation, a Network of privacy contacts from within the major public sector departments has been established to assist with education about, and compliance with, the Information Privacy Principles.

The establishment of the Network aims to increase the efficiency of communications about protection of personal information. In turn this will enable proactive responses to areas of privacy risk, and over time will develop a more robust culture of privacy awareness across the Public Sector.
