Scabby Knees Hopes and Dreams

Scabby Knees, Hopes and Dreams: a child's experience of government 1840-1990

Hidden in the South Australian archives are some great stories about children and government. Birth registers, school journals, letters from State Wards, court statements and complaints to the police are just some of the vast collection of records that capture children's encounters with the adult world.

Based at the Leigh Street Research Centre, the Scabby Knees exhibition gives visitors a chance to view some of the records relating to childhood that we hold in our collection.
