Marine and Harbours Passenger Certificate for a paddle steamer on the River Murray. Paddle steamers were used for transportation on the Murray, not only for produce, but for passengers as well.

Loading dried fruit onto a paddle steamer at Renmark. The paddle steamer trade as a means of transport flourished with the prosperity irrigation brought to the Murray region and the need to export the produce of the Riverland, c.1920s.

Paddle steamer Marion showing passengers and crew. The Marion was one of the first paddle steamers to run cruises on the River Murray. After years of permanent mooring, she was recommissioned in 1994 and is the only wood-fired paddle steamer to plie the waters of the River Murray today, c.1920s.
