Confidential despatches received from the Secretary of State, London 1843 - 1962

This is a listing of confidential despatches received from Secretary of State, London.  A despatch is an official written report on State affairs, and can also contain instructions for the South Australian government from the Imperial government in London. Despatches cover a wide range of topics including: passenger lists, shipping, shipping casualties and shipwrecks, Government towns and townships, deaths, marriages, biographical cuttings, churches, inquests, etc.

This series acts as an index to the following two series:

GRG 2/13 - Confidential despatches received from the Secretary of State, London, 1843 - 1934

GRG 2/14 - Confidential despatches and letters sent to the Secretary of State, London and others, 1862 - 1911.

The Special List for this series covers the years 1843 - 1962.  The list contains a subject description of the contents of the despatch and the date of the despatch.
